The safety of the dogs in our care, as well as our family and staff, is our priority during hurricane season.
Greencove Acres accepts boarding reservations throughout hurricane season, June through November. However, we do not board dogs through a hurricane and are not an evacuation or hurricane shelter.
If a hurricane threatens our area, owners and emergency contacts will be notified that arrangements must be made to pick up their dog. All dogs must be picked up within 24 hours of a Hurricane Warning being issued for Sarasota County.
Owners are responsible for making arrangements in advance for a safe evacuation location for their dog in the event they are unable to personally pick up their dog.
This may include another boarding facility, veterinary clinic, trusted friend or family member, or another appropriate location outside the affected area.
Greencove Acres does not guarantee that we will be able to locate or secure an evacuation facility on your behalf. Any facility designated by the owner must be willing and able to accept the dog at the time evacuation becomes necessary.
If you are unable to pick up your dog, you authorize Greencove Acres to release your dog to an approved emergency contact or transport your dog to the evacuation facility you have arranged and provided to us.
If Greencove Acres must transport your dog to your pre-arranged evacuation facility, a $200 transportation fee will apply. The owner is also responsible for all boarding, veterinary, transportation, or other expenses incurred as a result of the evacuation.
Once your dog has been transferred to your designated evacuation facility or authorized emergency contact, Greencove Acres is released from responsibility for the dog's continued care.
Please provide reliable emergency contact information for yourself as well as the names and phone numbers of any individuals authorized to pick up your dog.
